harry astons naval career

During WW2 Harry Aston served in the Royal Navy in the Submarines. Like may Service personnel he did not talk about it much. He is known to have served on the HMS Tigris (N63), HMS Torbay (N79), HMS Stonehenge (P232), HMS Severn (N57), HMS Upright (N89). He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the 1939-1945 Star, The Africa Star, the Burma Star, the DFefence Medal, the War Medal 1939-1945. He later went onto play an active part in the Submariners OCA in the Warwickshire Area and went to various reunions overseas.

Harry Aston had a fondness for luxury Cars seen here is his 1955 Rolls Royce Sliver Wraith James Young LWB with partition one of only seven built to specification WRM31A. He owned this from December 1963 until his death in 1968. The car is still in existence in Michigan U.S.A. housed in a small collection, the present owner has owned it for over 25 years.
As well as this car he is known to have owned two Armstrong Siddley Sapphires, a Daimler DB18 Convertible body by Barkers, a Ford Zepphr Convertible with Leopard Skin seats.
In the garage at the time of his death there was a Lagonda specification unknown. He is also know to have had a Rolls Royce Shooting Break which was built for a Leicester shoe manufacturer.
